1. Photograph it
Point your phone at the board, sail or kite. We read the shots and fill in the make, model, year, size and condition for you — you just check it looks right.
2. Set your price
We show what the same kit has been going for so you can price it in seconds. Open to offers is on by default; switch it off if the price is the price.
3. Talk to buyers
Riders can buy it outright, make an offer, or just message you. Everything lands in one inbox with the listing attached, so nothing gets lost.
4. Hand it over
Collection in person or a courier booked through us, including a lane for big boards and masts. Print the label, hand it over, done.
5. Get paid
The money is held safely while the gear travels and lands in your bank once the buyer has it. No chasing, no bank transfer to a stranger.
Three ways a sale can happen
You're not forced down one route. Sell it properly through checkout, or just talk to the buyer like you would in a local group.
Buy it now
The buyer pays on Tradewind, the gear is covered, and your payout is automatic. This is the safest route for both of you.
Message the seller
Prefer to sort it between yourselves, like a local group? Riders can message you and arrange it directly. That's completely free and always will be.
Share it further
List once and share the same listing to eBay or your local Facebook group. Anything that sells elsewhere is marked sold here so you never double-sell.
What it costs
If you're selling

List as much gear as you like. Sell it for £50 or £5,000 — the price you set is the money you get, minus nothing.
If you're buying
2.9% + £0.99
A protection fee at checkout, plus delivery if it's being posted. It pays for holding the money safely and sorting it out if something isn't right.
Questions riders ask
What does it cost me to sell?
Nothing. Listing is free, selling is free, and there's no membership. We'd rather have every rider's gear on here than take a cut of it.
So how does Tradewind make money?
Buyers pay a small protection fee at checkout — 2.9% plus £0.99 — which covers the card processing, holding the payment until the gear has changed hands, and our support if a sale goes wrong. It isn't insurance. Delivery is paid by the buyer too.
When do I get paid?
Once the buyer has the gear. Collections release within a couple of hours of the handover code being used; posted items release a few days after delivery so there's time to flag a problem.
What if the buyer says it isn't as described?
Tell us and we'll look at it. Honest listings are protected — that's why the condition notes and photos matter. Describe the dings and you'll almost never have a problem.
Do I have to post it?
No. Collection only is fine, and plenty of gear sells that way. If you're happy to post, we'll price the courier for you, including oversized boards.
What's a Gear Passport?
Every item you list gets a permanent record — repairs, services, previous owners. It stays with the gear when it sells, so the next buyer can see it's been looked after. That's what makes good kit worth more here.
